ELMDON Crime Updates 01/07/2026-09/07/2026 |
||
|
Good Morning Residents of Elmdon,
I thought things were finally cooling down, but here comes another heatwave! Here is your crime update and good news for the past set covering 01/07/2026-09/07/2026.
Crimes: On the evening of 2/7/26, a BMW vehicle was deliberately damaged by unknown offenders in ELMDON PARK CAR PARK near to the Church smashing all the windows and scratching the paint. We have since increased patrols in the area looking to combat ASB and any other related behaviour. As always, we suggest investing in crime prevention measures such as steering locks and dashcams to deter criminals and help keep yourselves safe.
During the evening of 30/6/26, items were stolen from a MERCEDES vehicle parked on COVENTRY ROAD by unknown means.
On 5/7/26, an ABARTH vehicle was stolen from WOLVERLEY ROAD by an unknown means. The investigation remains ongoing to identify the offenders.
Good News: Following ongoing concerns raised by local residents about the use of off-road bikes in the area we were out in force supporting a special operation with our colleagues in Force Traffic and Road Harm Prevention Team (RHPT). The off-road bikes team were quick to respond to any reports or sightings of bikes in the area and thanks to calls from the public and the efforts of our specialist officers two males were detained on a bike, arrested and a weapon seized along with the bike.
The team spotted a vehicle driving erratically on Wednesday evening on the patch and upon pulling it over found the driver to be intoxicated and in possession of Class A drugs. The male was arrested and taken to custody, thankfully safeguarding other road users.
Two of our team had a lovely message from a member of the public who was keen to thank us for the work we had done to safeguard a vulnerable lady in the community. Messages like this mean a lot to the team and we are so grateful for this kind gesture by the person as feedback about the work we do in the community is so valuable to us. Thank you.
Our street watch groups have been out and about braving the scorching heat with our PCSO’s and discussing and tackling local issues this past week, and the team have been attending a number of joint visits with Solihull Housing to tackle issues such as drug use and ASB which have been raised as being persistent issue by local people. These are some of the ways that our team responds to the problems that come to our attention to deal with what matters to our residents.
A vehicle was stopped yesterday on LODE LANE after driving past a nearby school with the driver on their phone in traffic. Words of advice were given to the driver and repeat offences will be dealt with following a formal process which may involve points and/or a fine at court. As always, any dashcam footage showing driving offences can be uploaded to our website under OP SNAP.
An Invitation:
Following a training session held yesterday by our Road Harm Prevention Team (which is part of our Traffic Unit driving the very nice cars), 4 more police officers and PCSOs on the local LEOS NHT have now been trained in Community Speedwatch and using the speed guns on targeted operations. This is separate to our Streetwatch Scheme and only focusses on excess speed offending in areas of concern. As we are now trained, we can train members of the public in using the speed detection guns and joining us on these operations, where we can look to actively deal with vehicles causing a danger on our roads. If you wish to get trained and be apart of this programme with us, please reach out via WMNOW or by emailing 28449@westmidlands.police.uk. Please note these emails will only be processed AFTER 22/7/26 due to upcoming leave.
I will be away on holiday for our next set but will reply to any WMNOW messages or emails on my return from 22/7/26 onwards. If there is anything urgent, please reach out by calling 101/webchat or 999 in an emergency.
Enjoy your weekend with the upcoming football matches and stay safe in the sun,
Dan
